OBSI Board Announces New Chair of the Consumer and Investor Advisory Council
The Board of Directors for the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI) announced the appointment of a new chair of its independent Consumer and Investor Advisory Council (CIAC).
Wanda Morris has been appointed the new Chair of the CIAC. Ms. Morris is a CPA and financial and consumer advocate. As the former Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer for CARP and CEO of Dying with Dignity Canada, she led public advocacy campaigns on a number of issues including investor protections, pension security, medical aid in dying, and safety in long-term care.
Ms. Morris is a frequent media commentator and her writing has appeared in various publications including the Vancouver Sun, the Edmonton Journal and Zoomer Magazine.
The Board of Directors thanks outgoing Chair Guy Lemoine for the contributions he has made to the CIAC since 2014 and would like to also thank Eric Spink for his five years of service as a member of the council. The insights and efforts they have made since they joined the CIAC have been valued.
The CIAC was created to provide the input of consumers and investors into OBSI's governance and operations, complementing the input OBSI regularly receives from industry stakeholders and regulatory and government officials. Council members come from across Canada and have backgrounds that ensure they are familiar with consumer issues and concerns relevant to OBSI’s mandate.
Information about the CIAC is available on the OBSI website here.
