OBSI Announces New Board Chair
OBSI’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of a new Chair, Jim Emmerton.
Mr. Emmerton has been a long-serving community director and a member of the Finance and Audit Committee of the OBSI board. He has served as the Executive Director of the British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) and the Canadian Centre for Elder Law. He has also served as a member of the National Seniors Council and as a member of OBSI’s Consumer and Investor Advisory Council before joining the board.
“I am looking forward to my new leadership role on the board and to continue working with OBSI stakeholders and staff towards shared goals for the future,” said Mr. Emmerton, who is succeeding Fernand Bélisle as Chair.
The board is also pleased to announce the appointment of two new members.
- Rick Annaert, CPA, CMA, is the Senior Vice President, Advisory Services, Manulife, and President and CEO of Manulife Securities. He replaces Kevin Regan as the industry representative for the Mutual Fund Dealers Association. Mr. Annaert has more than 30-years experience in financial services, including insurance, mutual funds, bank and trust companies.
- Ronald Smith, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D, will be joining the board as a community director. Mr Smith has been a Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Alamos Gold Inc. since 2009. He has served on numerous boards and audit committees over the past 30 years. He was the Senior Vice President and CFO of Emera Inc., a publicly-traded energy company, and brings significant experience from the fields of finance, human resources and management consulting.
